What is Hosted PBX?

It is a Private Branch Exchange phone system where the call platform and PBX features are hosted at the service provider location. This technology allows small and medium-sized businesses to have a sophisticated phone system without the investment in expensive telephone equipment. A Hosted PBX lets employees work remotely for example from remote office, their home or even overseas.

What equipment can I use?

If you choose to subscribe to a cloud based IP telephone system, you must ensure that your phones can communicate over VoIP network. As such, you'll need a SIP-enabled phone to make VoIP calls. You can use a softphone on your computer. It is a program for making telephone calls over the VoIP system using a general purpose computer, rather than using hardware IP telephone.
